The Award is intended as a tribute to the memory of Dr. Florisa Melone, a former SII member, and to the studies she carried out during her research activity: from watershed monitoring to process studies, from flood forecasting to flood risk in the context of climate change. A brief biography of him was compiled by Prof. Vijay P. Singh in Chapter-I of the book “Advances in Watershed Hydrology“ published in 2015 by Water Resources Publications, LLC.
The award, made available by Dr. Florisa Melone’s family and promoted by the SII, aims to award a financial support of 5,000 euros to research projects carried out by young researchers, members of the Italian Hydrological Society, who have obtained a Ph.D. and are under 35 years of agè with the purpose of encouraging the research autonomy of young members and stimulating new ideas in the field of hydrology.
